Google Scholarships 2022: What international students need to know

Google has recently opened up applications for their 2022 scholarships. International students who want to  pursue a career in technology would be delighted to know that they are a plethora of choices for them to choose from. If you’re looking to study abroad and need some financial help, look no further as we will be your one-stop portal to help you understand and make your choice effectively.

Generation Google Scholarship

The Generation Google Scholarship and the Generation Google Scholarship: for supply chain and fulfillment are valued at US$10,000 (for those studying in the US) and CA$5,000 (for those studying in Canada) for the 2022-23 school year.

They also have scholarships specifically for women in computer science and women in gaming. For Asia Pacific, selected students will receive US$1,000, while those in Europe, Middle East and Africa will receive a 7,000 euros award (or local equivalent).

In Ireland, female students pursuing  computer science can stand to win a 5,000 euros award (or local equivalent) for two consecutive years of their undergraduate studies.

Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship

Google’s education and scholarship programmes aim to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields. Partnering with EmployAbility, a nonprofit organisation that supports students with disabilities while they pursue education and promising careers, this scholarship helps university students with disabilities work toward their academic goals in the field of computer science. Selected students will receive a 7,000 euro award (or local equivalent) for the 2022-23 academic year.

Google Lime Scholarship

Similar to this above, this scholarship is in partnership with Lime Connect, a nonprofit organisation that supports students with disabilities while they pursue education and promising careers in computer science. Selected students will receive US$10,000 (for those studying in the US) or CA$5,000 (for those studying in Canada) for the 2022-2023 school year.

Google Conference Scholarships

Google believes a diversity of attributes, experiences, and perspectives are needed to build tools that can change the world. They also believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to pursue connections in the industry, networking with peers, and a career path in technology. To help break down the barriers that prevent underrepresented groups in technology and business from attending leading conferences,  Google is offering the Google Conference Scholarships for selected conferences in the tech industry and related fields.

Tips and tricks

It is important to understand that it is not easy to be awarded a scholarship by Google as there are thousands of students worldwide trying to apply for it as well. However, it isn’t impossible.

Leadership and curricular activities play an important part of the application process as you would need to show proof of these. Google is also looking for underprivileged students who are serious about their academics.
